I flew out of Sacramento on Southwest at 6am which meant leaving the house at 4:30 or so just to make sure I didn't have any issues getting all my gear through security. We boarded the plan and I went to my seat B16, which was the middle seat. Sitting next to me was a dude in the oil industry named Dominic. Cool guy, we got to talking about a bunch of stuff. He was a bigger guy, like he worked out, not obese. So when the door shut and there was nobody sitting next to me in the isle seat, so I moved over to give both of us some room. Now, you may or may not be saying, "Ok Sam, what was the problem?", if your laughing hysterically like my wife was, you, my friend, are a smarted man than me.
So heres the punch line, on the flight back I had A64, as I was standing in line I got to thinking that 64 rows is a lot of rows for such a small plane. Then the, duh, hit me. Southwest doesn't assign seats, its a free for all, thats why they have boarding groups. So rewind to the morning, when I sit my ass down in the middle seat, next to this dude who could probably kill me, cramming him up against the window when there is a whole row open. I don't even know what he thought, but, Dominic, if you are reading this.....
Anyways, back to the engagement session! I think this was one of the more challenging locations I've worked with. If you have ever been down to the Riverside, Desert Hot Springs area, you know what I mean. There's not much there, but windmills and tumbleweeds. But, none the less, I ended up with amazing shots. When you have a couple like this, its hard not to :) I will be photographing their wedding in October and I can't wait!
